I finally got tired of it all and decided to = bite the bullet and upgrade to the JPI-930 engine analyzer. The reason for= my sending this email is to let you know that the transition was real easy= and painless. As you know JPI owns the VM-1000 system and they're doing t= heir best to support it as much as possible, however, there's so much you c= an do for these old systems. The JPI people were extremely friendly and he= lpful with my transition. The only obstacle was enlarging the panel a litt= le bit to accommodate the new screen. This can be done by any radio or mac= hine shop. The rest is very simple and easy to do. It took me about 2 day= s to remove the old system and the same amount to install the new system. = The final installation was much cleaner and a lot less cluttered than befor= e with a 2 to 3 pounds of weight savings. JPI staff worked with me on the= fuel tank probe mystery and provided a lot of support. I have spoken to JPI and they've initiated a factory upgrade for the VM-100= 0 users which includes all parts required to replace the old system with al= l new parts, sans fuel probes, at a special promotional rate of $3,500.00, = same system sells for $4,933 from Aircraft Spruce.
