David,
I have a set of Chelton's in my IVP. The airplane is not flying yet, but we
have been doing lots of ground runs and I am having apparently the same
issue. On start up the GPS will lock usually, but it will lose the lock
after a few minutes of run time - again usually - I have seen it come back a
time or two after that. I have not run it for more than about 15 minutes at
a time. Have tried cycling the EFIS GPS and will get "acquitting gps"
message on the screen but rarely has the signal come back in the time frame
we've been running. Once or twice we've regained it.
Obviously, I am just as interested as you in how to solve the problem.
Don't know about the update. Can you tell me when that software update came
out?
Thanks,
John Barrett

Subject: [LML] cheltons losing gps signal
hi all,
since installing an overdue software update to my cheltons as well as
sending out 1 screen to be "overhauled" by cobham (both of which may be
totally incidental), my cheltons lose gps signal intermittently usually
about 10-15 minutes into the flight then about half an hour later regain the
gps signal though there doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason behind
when/where the signal is lost or reappears. the ahrs works fine and it
tries to calculate where i am on the moving map but not accurately enough.
i have tried calling cobham tech support but have been unable to get my
calls returned which is unusual as in the past they have been responsive.
any great ideas on where to troubleshoot or has anyone else had this issue
before? is it the antennae/receiver?
thanks,
