I recall the Navy training command 1968.  Flying F8 Crusaders (single seat jet fighter plus afterburner)  with about 350 hours total time.  I’d agree that 1,000 hours does not make a good pilot – or a well trained pilot necessarily - or a careful pilot.

...I would say that a person should not be flying a Lancair until they have 1,000 hours+ flying experience...

 

 

If that were to be, then it would probably ground more than 50% of the Lancair fleet.
