When I bought my Legacy the OAT probe was located in the psaasenger side
NACA duct. It read in the 50's or 60's (F) no matter how cold outside. That
*did* do wonders for my calcuated TAS :). I spoke to GRT (I have an EIS
6000) and they told me to get it away from the fuselage. So I relocated it
to the outboard inspection cover on the bottom of the right wing. It was a
bit of a chore snaking the wire through the wing but now it works like a
champ and gives believable readings. One downside to this location is that
while parked or taxiing on hot blacktop you will get false high readings due
to reflected heat from the blacktop. That's not where I'm usually concerned
about either icing or airspeed.

Subject: [LML] OAT Location
For those of you with an AHARS unit used with a glass panel, where
are you locating your OAT probe? I have a Dynon Skyview and it says
do not locate the probe in the sun which rules out the top of the
fuselage, in the vicinity of engine heat which rules out the bottom
(exhaust) or exposed to cabin heat at the rear of the probe which
nixes the clever idea I saw one dude use by mounting the probe in the
cabin air NACA inlet. Now I don't have a clue. Any input appreciated.
