I just received my seat belts from Hooker Harness. The attach tabs have
3/8" holes with a metal sleeve insert that reduces the hole diameter to
1/4". Scott at Hooker told me I can simply press out the sleeve if I want
to use 3/8" bolts (which are specified in the Legacy manual).
The metal sleeve is flanged on both sides and is free to spin in the
attach tab even after the nut and bolt are tightened. This would be a nice
feature since it allows the seat belts to pivot and self-align with the
wearer. The shoulder harnesses could also be tucked out of the way for
easier access to the baggage area (I am using the standard attach location
above and behind the pilot's head).
So here are my questions:
Has anyone used 1/4" attach bolts for the seat belts? Are they adequate? I
would tend to think so since Hooker delivers seat belts with 1/4" attach
points.
Is having pivoting seat belt attach points a worthwhile feature?

Hoping for first flight this summer
