The problem with my plane was not due to the seat pan sliding
backwards. The problem was that the mechanic did not insert the seat
pan in the forward 3-bid lip. This caused the seat to slip forward
1/2 to 1 inch and stopped the elevator from going back. In other
words, I lost 3 to 4 inches of up elevator.

[I received a few follow-up posts to my inserted comment and stand
corrected... I noticed the error regarding which way your pan had slipped
and was waiting for this response.  I knew it would show up eventually.
