 Michael,
Cleaner yes.  Safer?  There are likely a variety of internal lock / release
methods.  Make sure the one you use can't open by mistake in flight.  Ask Joe
Bartels about the time his did and the airplane cover got caught on the tail.
Fortunately it came off after a short time of terror.  I  heard the story
second hand but was told that Joe thought "this is it".  If the cover had not
come off by itself it may have been "it".

The standard keyed locks don't look as good but I have never heard of them
opening in flight.  Some will say that the weak link of the key/lock system is
that you can take off without locking them.  This can be prevented by keeping
the baggage door key on the same key ring as the ignition key and installing
the locks per the instructions so the key cannot be removed in the unlocked
position.  You can still mess this up if you have the door open, then turn the
key to the locked position and remove the key.  If you do that ....

Hey Guys, I'm looking for a  locking device for the baggage compartment
door, that locks from the inside  release rather than a key and lock.  I'm
at
the point where the LIV is  being prepared for painting and want to install
the locking device before we go  any farther. It looks cleaner and safer
than
   the lock showing.  Thanks,
