Any ideas on what to see and what to skip? Pat and Susan - LIV-P (7 year project flying for one year now!)< Yes, we love it there and visit often. We will be boating in the San Juans and visiting Friday Harbor again in July. The airport has some special procedures which are well published. Had my 360 there year before last. The runway has a good down slope landing south and patterns are flown on the west side of the airport but check for changes. Things to do could include a walk of the shops and boat docks all right in town and about a mile from the airport. You might want to do an Orca boat trip watch if you have time especially if you have not been boating in the islands. I have not done this commercial venture myself but the scenery is beautiful even if you don't see any Killer Whales. The road to the south end of the island to Cattle Point is well worth the drive. Be sure to stop along the way to see the parks, vistas and beaches. Roche Harbor on the NW end of the island is very historic but I would put it low on the list of things to do. Call if you have any questions. Gene McBrayer, a IV builder/flyer/owner, lives on the island next to San Juan. You may want to try to get ahold of him.
