I had the same question when installing Dynon Skyview into my LNC2. The word I got from them on the phone was, "yes, it matters." So, I built a proper length pitot mast from glass and attached it to the bottom of the aileron bellcrank access panel in the outer wing. Levelled it and installed the heater control in that bay also. I kept the original heated pitot and the steam airspeed instrument. In flight, I can not tell the difference between the readings of the two systems and the AOA works perfectly when calibrated per the installation guide. Will it work if you use the original pitot mount? Who knows! Has anyone done that yet? What result did you get? Speculation means nothing, data means everything. Tom Thibault LNC2, "Eagle Dancer"
