I used 3M aluminum foil tape to cover my caps and had no problem with leaks.
I primed my wings
with DuPont 210S gray waterborne surfacer primer and the tape sticks well.
I had to remove the fuel probes today ( months after completing the pressure
test) and got a nice "woosh" of air due to atmospheric changes. Another
thought, try museum putty if you can't find aluminum tape.
