I had a terrible time getting my fuel caps to seal when checking the
tank seal. I finally solved the problem with a pice of 1/8" plexiglas,
about 12" square. I stuck it over the filler with a wide bead of RTV.
Problem gone.

Of course, getting the RTV off the wing skin when I was done was a bit
of a problem, but not nearly as bad as trying to get the last minute
scratch on the filler neck sealed.
