I, too, have been having a problem with the hardener supplied by Lancair in
that it kicks off in such a short time. I contacted Jeffco in San Diego for
remedies. I was told by a tech person, Jay, that they have a new hardener
(3103) that has a 30 min pot life as opposed to the 15 min pot life of the
3102 hardener. Supposedly, the strength properties are equal to or greater
than either the 3102 or the 3156 hardeners (hax-mat stuff). 3103 hardener
ships regular UPS (not hazmat).
What do you all think? I'm tempted to try the 3103 hardener simply because
of my most recent BID layup. I had to cut off 1/2 of the hardened glass
since I wasn't able to get it all down and stippled before the stuff began
to get stiff. The strength of larger layups would be greatly enhanced if
there was more time to get it down and get out the bubbles.
