Before I go further, this posting is NOT a complaint about Lancair, but a request for info that can benefit all of us. I live in Palmdale, California, where the temperature has already reached the high 90's. The Jeffco 1307-LV resin with the 3102 hardener is extremely difficult to work with in the afternoons because the pot life is so short. Fortunately, Lancair now has a slower hardener available, 3156, but it is considered a hazardous item for shipping. I've bought hazmat stuff mail-order before. You used to pay about $10 extra (god knows why) and that was that. In fact, my 1999-2000 Aircraft Apruce catalog describes United Parcel Service hazmat fees as being $16.50 as of 1 Jan 1999. I do know that UPS changed their fee structure somewhere around January of this year. I bought a quart of the slower hardener and some mixing cups from Lancair last week. Vern advised me before shipping it that the hazmat charges had gone up tremendously. In fact, we ultimately discovered that the total UPS shipping charges for this shipment were $80. I don't know what the cost would have been for a non-hazmat shipment of the same size, but I estimate between $10 and $15. That means the hazmat surcharge is now close to $70! I'm not upset at Lancair, not at all, but I am unhappy with UPS. If anyone knows of a better shipping company that they could use for hazmat items, please pass it on. (If you know of a Jeffco distributor in Los Angeles, that would be nice to know, too, but I'll still have other hazmat items to mail order....) - Rob Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
