It is standard for the top cowl to bulge upwards.  If the baffling gap grows too large on top, the rubber baffle blows back and flaps against the cowl making an exciting noise. 
 
I installed cowl flaps which make the problem much worse when the cowl flaps are closed.  Anticipating a problem, I added  foam/unicarbon/fiberglass  BID ribs to the top cowl.  Deformation now is zippo.
