I have the original LNC2 fuel caps, 1989, and have found that dribbling a few drops of Marvel Mystery Oil onto the "O" ring and into the wedge behind the "O" ring keeps the cap working just fine. Over a few weeks, without some lubrication, the "O" ring gets dry and is hard to get into the tank top. Also, when the cap dries out, closing the tab won't squeeze the "O" ring properly and the cap will turn loosley in the tank top. I still have the old fuel caps and after about 1500 hours and a few drops of MMO once in awhile, they are just fine.
