Skip,

You said, “Pilots who brag about such exploits deserve a very wide berth.”

I am “one of those pilots” that have publicly stated that I have exceeded, by a large margin, the Lancair published Vne for a Legacy. However, I reject your label “brag”. I even included the fact that Greg Cole (Greg was very involved in the design of the Legacy) was consulted and gave his blessing for faster airspeeds. I have no intention of exceeding the .6 Mach that was mentioned by Greg. At this point I’ve not exceeded .56 Mach.

I do have an Mmo that, for me is a limit.

You asked,  “I have to wonder what the instructors from HIPAT and LOBO would have to say on this subject.”

I can’t speak for Pete and his crew at HIPAT, but I can say from first hand knowledge the Pete is one of these guilty people who has been know to exceeded the published speed limits for Lancair IV aircraft.

Lancair’s owner has been in attendance, many times, where he has witnessed, and encouraged the exceeding of the published Vne of Lancair IV and Legacy aircraft.

So, Skip, I guess you want to avoid by “a very wide berth”, not only Randy and me, but Pete and Joe as well?????????

Regards,

Lynn Farnsworth
