The tight radius of leading edges allows air voids to remain during the
molding process even with vacuum bagging. If you are still building or plan
to repaint, take a sharp punch and tap the leading edges thoroughly. I
found some voids that were easily broken thru. First, scuff the surface
well enough with 40 grit so when the voids are patched you can paint on a
couple of coats of clear resin to provide additional protection for
pinholes. West System epoxy is more flexible and is easier to sand than
Jeffco. This is a tip from Don Goetz, Lance's original employee, test pilot
extraordinaire and multi-lancair builder. I avoid rain so I have not tested
it yet.
