Temperature makes a big difference on how the epoxy flows.  I've had two
problems with my Sticky Stuff Dispenser in the last few years, one was the
pivot nut loosened and allowed the pivot point of the arm to move a little bit
which threw off the ratio.  I replaced the nut with a Nyloc nut.  I also
replaced the valve on the hardener side with a stainless steel one from A/S
that keeps the hardener from discoloring.  My pump is only stiff when the
epoxy is cold.
