This is truly heart-breaking. We hear time and time again of accidents that are ultimately caused by pilot error, and while every loss is a tragedy, there is some comfort in knowing that there are things we can do as pilots to avoid those situations happening to us. We have, at least, some measure of control over our fate.  Many is the time I have told my wife, in reference to flying the 172, "listen, if the wings off these planes routinely came off in flight, then I would probably not fly, but they simply don't do that.  Planes are typically lost due to accidents that are ultimately avoidable." 

That's what makes the report so painful to read. These people literally had no chance...and did nothing wrong.
