From the JPI EDM-700 Installation manual, TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION:

7. Display jumps when transmitting on the radio.  Review Fig-6, a kit is available to stop transmission noise. It connects on pin 11 Connector P1.

(Figure 6 shows that the unit *must* be grounded to the engine block, not the avionics ground.)
