First, I hit the wrong number key when relating the B-1 bird-strike. Should have said it took place in the '80's, not the '60's since the B-1 (production model, B1-B) wasn't produced until Reagan came into office in the '80's. And second, the term "aileron rolls" is not completely accurate when applied to the B-1 since the airplane doesn't have ailerons - only spoilers on the wings (in addition to flaps and slats). However, the horizontal stabs are independently articulated for additional roll control and though I haven't talked to a B-1 pilot about it, is probably what allows the airplane to do the consecutive "aileron" rolls. I need to send such comments prior to my second scotch. Dan Schaefer -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. We are a community of 5.8 million users fighting spam.
