I could be wrong (I frequently am, just ask my
wife) but my impression was that the only real concern involving metallic paint
and antennas was for GPS antennas, i.e. don't paint over a GPS antenna or place
it behind e-glass with metallic paint. GPS signals are lower level than
com and VOR signals and so are more easily blocked.
