GPS signals are lower level than com and = VOR signals and so are more easily blocked. I could be wrong (I frequently am, just = ask my=20 wife) but my impression was that the only real concern involving = metallic paint=20 and antennas was for GPS antennas, i.e. don't paint over a GPS antenna = or place=20 it behind e-glass with metallic paint.  GPS signals are lower level = than=20 com and VOR signals and so are more easily blocked.
