LOBO is a great idea for many reasons not only
insurance. Having been a member of several type specific organizations,
including ABS, they serve a very useful purpose for the aircraft owners/flyers.
I would like to see LOBO operated much like ABS which provides programs for
training, inspections and technical support for maintaining type specific
aircraft. LOBO is on the right track. Full steam ahead Jeff.

Bryan,
Unfortunately, the 235, 320s and 360s comprise a
large portion of the Lancair accident history. As many mentioned here
recently, we need to all pull together on this subject. One interesting aspect
to this is that I have heard that it is cheaper to insure an Eclipse than
a Lancair IVP. Why might you ask? No serious or fatal losses.
One
thing Eclipse does effectively is mentor new Eclipse pilots--many of who have
never flown a jet before. Perhaps we might mentor new Lancair pilots, point
them in the right direction, offer sage advice, etc. How do you prevent the
accident after the pilot receives the training? Mentoring is one method. How
do you encourage a new Lancair owner to get training in the first place?
Mentoring might work. We all will work together on this--the factory,
HPAT and LOBO.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
