Art, you are correct. The real BSFC of the TSIO 550 is very close to 0.4 lb / HP*hr or 15 hp*hr/gal  Craig Berland

Robert, all the numbers I have seen for a TSIO-550E with 8.5/1 is  14.9hp/gal FF where did the 13.73hp/gal FF come from?

not from George I would guess.   Art

John-Paul,

My compression is 7.3:1.  Any estimate on that HP/GPH number?

 Robert

On 8.5:1 compression ratio engines, the number is 13.73 HP/GPH while LOP.  It will be different for other compression ratios.

 Thanks,

 John-Paul

Question about the rule of thumb from GPH to HP:

I have seen multipliers used as high as 14.3 and as low as 13.7 (yours as I recall).

Could you confirm that the 13.7 is correct whilst running LoP?

 Robert
