Craig, I'm sure you have the leaning during descent working great for you and
your airplane.  There was an LML discussion about 3 years ago about a man who
bought a 300 series Lancair.  After having it less than a week, he was
descending to an airport and the engine died.  He was not able to get it
restarted and crashed short of the runway.  He and his wife got out OK, but as
I remember the aircraft burned up. The LML discussion about the cause centered
around whether the man had richened up the mixture as he descended.  It was
suspected that he did not and the mixture was too lean when he descended to a
lower altitude and the engine quit.  Just food for thought.
