Apples and oranges. Admittedly most drivers get better with experience (like anything else). However, most drivers do not crash in their first ten hours of driving. These accident numbers are independent of pilot total time. Most low time pilots that have accidents in Lancairs do so for the reasons illuminated by John Halle--failure to take training, failure to understand the differences between the spam can and the Lancair and overconfidence in their abilities. Oh, and don't forget the failure to take care of the machine (loss of power). Jeff Jeff, while the numbers are interesting, they are not too surprising. My point is “most” people are involved in car accidents within 5 miles of their home.
