It appears that the FAA has taken notice of the recent spike in Lancair accidents. They evidently talked to the EAA in an effort to come up with a solution and EAA's Earl Lawrence, who is supposed to be on our side, basically told them that the EAA did not want to get involved. My understanding is that Joe Bartel's is now tasked with coming up with a solution as the "aircraft manufacturer".
I have some concerns not the least of which is that Joe didn't manufacture our planes, we did. We should be the ones to "come up with a solution" or at least be in the loop. Obviously regulated training may or may not be a bad thing, but without any input, I can't imagine this is going to be good.
I would propose that those that have some connections, confirm this story and that we as a group should put some pressure on the EAA to get involved.
