 Larry,

Making the molds for our Integral Wingtip Lights was one of the more
challenging of our projects. I doubt the average builder will be able to
make useable molds. Also, so much time is required to make the molds that
it's hardly worth it for a single builder.

Once we had a pair of excellent molds, we shopped around for a shop to do
the forming. We had hoped to use someone local in the Bay Area. To make a
long story short, we had way too many quality control issues. Sure, these
guys were in the business, and could form all kinds of things, but they
didn't make great lenses. After some searching, we found the company that
makes the canopy's for the Legacy. While they charge twice as much, their
lenses are nothing short of perfect. They are a truly beautiful part, and
they are as optically pure as the shape allows. Just as important as no
flaws, they are also of a uniform thickness. This makes for a great fit. In
short, they are suitable for use on such as upscale airplane as the Legacy.

Since this discussion is now an active thread on the LML, I've decided to
run an Oshkosh Special. Our Integral Wingtip Lights normally sell for $795.
That includes the mounting bulkheads, templates, lenses, and instructions.
They are now officially on sale until the end of Oshkosh for $695. I have a
good stock of lenses on hand, and we can normally ship the kit in about one
 week.

  Valin,
We have a shop here in Oklahoma City and this  is the only thing that they
do is forming plastic.  I made a mold out of dental stone trying to form a
lens for the wing tip.  I finally gave up trying to get the  right shape
and decided to go with the standard wing tips.  However if I would have
them form the lens, if my memory serves me right I think they were going
to charge me about $40.00 per set (this was based on an order of ten sets.

  See ya at OSH
