A couple of facts to throw in the mix. The measured installed weight of a Continental dry with all accessories, hoses and baffling is closer to 630 pounds. It is unfair to compare the Eagle installation with air conditioning to the Continental installation without. The Eagle warranty is about the same as a Continental warranty, expired by the time it flies. Of course they do not have TBO rating. None of the engines have worn out yet. Would it be better if they lied (like Continental). I believe the engine has been running with the gear box. Saying that the Eagle is just a Chevy, because it shares bolt patterns and dimensions, is like saying a Ferrari is just a Yugo because they both have four wheels. Millions (perhaps billions) of dollars have been spent developing the Chevy. Knowing what to copy is one of the hallmarks of good engineering. Does reinventing the manifold or water pump or bearings make a better engine? How about using Whitworth threads on all the fasteners? Better to spend your resources on things that matter. I share Marv's opinions about the company. May I suggest that we allow the Eagle group to demonstrate their competency before deciding that they have failed. I am not affiliated with Eagle in any way but I do believe that they (along with any innovator) deserve the benefit of the doubt until they have demonstrated success, failure or the propensity to deceive (like those whose name I dare not speak).
