A few years ago at the OSH banquet, Joe stated that
the IV/IV-P airframe was their flagship product, and went on to detail how the
IV/IV-P was their "money" product. It has a pretty unique position on the
price/performance graph and in Lancair's lineup. My guess is that the
Evolution is a blank-slate design for the niche the IV-PT was trying to fill,
and if I remember the accident stats correctly, with 25% of the IV-PT fleet in
the hands of the insurance companies, was probably rapidly becoming an insurance
"untouchable".
I'm sure Joe addressed the issue of the
availability of the IV/IV-P at the banquet last night - what did he say on the
topic?
