Now before anyone tells me to check the archives, I have.  Back in 2006, Brent published his opinion on brake lines, stating in part

 

"DH Instruments test hose is the best solution for the flexible portions of the brake lines (gear leg and petal cylinders). They have been exhaustively covered in previous threads."

 

Well I have just finished going back and forth with DHI (now a part of Fluke) for the last week.  Long story short, they said they've installed a new MRP system and it's too much work to create a custom length product any longer.  They recommended Swagelok.  The sales guy actually put that in an email!

 

The ridiculousness of that statement aside, I'm now pondering my alternatives for the flex portion of the brake lines (basically to and from the pedals, as well as to and from the gear legs).  The plastic tubing is out of the question, so what is the next best alternative after DHI?

 

One other question.  I have a newer kit, so I'm assuming that the plastic tubing in the gear legs has been replaced by aluminum.  Haven't actually checked it yet.  Can anyone confirm this?  Any issues?
