Colyn,

I brought this up on the 1st:

"Every time a Lancair crashes, I do a search on the on the LML for the
Pilot, and most all the time I see no posts from them, and on many occasions
when I look up the N number I see the plane was for sale at some point. That
is very interesting! Maybe a lot of these crashes are a result of people who
did not build their plane and as a result are not concerned with all the
intricacies that go into building, maintaining and flying such a plane?"

I agree; a) did they build it? b) did they get advanced training, specified
to the plane? c) are they member of the LML?

Pulling a list of all the owners of Lancair's, (especially new owners) and
inviting them to participate in the list would also help to enlighten a few
and possibly avoid some accidents.

is anyone still keeping track of all the lancair accidents?

I'm wondering if we track: a) is a member of lml b) had advanced training ?

I can think of a few cases where both (a) and (b) were true but I can think
of a lot more where at least (a) was not true.

It seems like there is a positive correlation of pilots who both bought
their planes already built and didn't participate in lml for an extended
period, with accident stats. I'm wondering if it would do any good to
track down lancair used sales and extend an invitation to new owners.
....and maybe also provide them with some synopsis of the group learning.
