Vision uses strain gauge sensors with faston terminals. If your sensor reads
correctly at all then the problem is most likely in the wire and not the sensor. A
reliable installation has the following features:
1) Mount the sensor to firewall with flex hose to engine.
2) Mount the sensor "wires down". There is a vent at the wire end that will collect
water and short the sensor if you wash the engine. (Gee, how do I know that?).
3) Use shielded tefzel cable (MIL-27500 22ga 4 conductor) and SOLDER the wires
directly to the sensor tabs. Strain relief with heat shrink.
4) Connect the shield at the DPU only (to case ground).
5) Tin the wires with solder before inserting them into the screw terminal blocks at
the DPU.
6) Use a thermal stripper, not a knife stripper, to prevent nicking the conductors.
Follow ALL these guidelines and your system will serve you well. Failing to comply
with any one of them opens the door for failure.
