I have been asked by a potential buyer of an NDEVOUR YSTEMS Inc. Lancair
IV to see what the legal issues are in purchase of such an aircraft.
First review Advisory Circular 20 - 139 dated 4/3/96 initiated by AIR-200
titled "Commercial Assistance During Construction of Amateur-built
Aircraft". After talking with a local FSDO friend who has been with me
on local committees dealing with class B airspace, I have E-mailed
NDEVOUR YSTEMS. I asked them for how the Canadian government certifies
the aircraft.
Since the U.S. and Canada have a cooperative agreement, the Canadian
certification is critical. To date I have not received an answer to my
E-mail.
Those considering commercial assistance should review AC 20 - 139, and
you might even have a friendly attorney review it with you. It would
surely be an unhappy day when you finished a project and learned that it
could only be flown to air shows and within 25 miles of your home base.
