Hi Bill,
I think you have me confused with someone else, I'm finishing up a IV and looking for an IO-550.  I'm presently flying a Glasair 2-RG,  N66MG and have been so since 1991.
When I first saw a Lancair IV, I knew that I wanted one and it's been a while to reach this point. I may have written to you by mistake, but what ever. Thanks for responding and hope to meet one day!

Hi Mike,

I can't help much but here's a little info.

If you can't get the back windows from Lancair, try LP Aero Plastics, Jeanette, Pennsylvania. (800) 957-2376,  windshields@lpaero.com . I believe that they were the original manufacturers of the windows for the 320. They're good people and have been very helpful to me.

As far as the hydraulic system, either Lancair or Oildyne (the pump manufacturer) should be able to supply the pump and reservoir. The pressure switches are readily available from Lancair and the rest of the plumbing is standard tubing and fittings available from Spruce or any other supplier.

Right side rudder pedals were an option. Your kit may never have had them. I don't have right rudders in mine and have never missed them. When Sue is flying, it gives me more leg room in the right seat.

The wing tip lens was also not standard equipment. Many of us just used the Whelen Nav/strobe/taillight combo on our wingtips. The lenses are a little more aerodynamic and look a bit better but are, of course, a bit more work to make.

You don't even want the original brake master cylinders. They had internal reservoirs and were leaky and hard to fill. The newer "laydown" cylinders with separate brake reservoir are a big improvement. Consider yourself lucky to have lost the originals (my opinion only).

If you can find a long engine mount, get it. I concur with several other LML opinions on that subject.

Hope that this little bit of info helps. Welcome to the world of airplane building!

As a new 320/360 builder of kit #546 (4th owner)  I came away from the purchase with a few items missing. Next time at taking ownership of a kit, I'll do a thorough inventory, even if it is snowing and the wife and helpful friend are freezing. Anyone in the group with info on locating the following would be sincerely appreciated.

Needed: A complete (or individual components) hydraulic system including the pump, reservoir, plumbing, switches, etc. Or maybe I'll get lucky and you know where mine has wandered off too in the Northern Utah area. Also need the two aft windows, preferably light grey in color. These may be with the already  mounted bulkhead hydraulic assembly. As well, the right side rudder pedal assembly and brake cylinders took a hike with the  previously mentioned items. And lastly, the wing tip lens flew the coop.

As part of my current Lancair learning curve, I have ended up with a mis-match of engine  and engine mount. I have a nice white short mount of the Dynafocal #2 type. I would like to find for trade or purchase the short (or long) Dynafocal #1 mount. Took a while to educate myself with the help of the Lancair folks regarding engine mounts, isolators, cowling styles and design changes to make, but it's all clear(?) now! Thanks in advance for any help with my treasure hunt.
