Matt: For what it's worth.

I'm 5'10" (well, I was when I was much younger) and wear a size 10 running
shoe, which I usually wear when flying. I fly a 235 with the header tank and
have the standard Lancair rudder/brake pedals mounted on the non-adjustable
mounts. In addition, I don't have anything mounted under the tank on the
driver's side and the tank doesn't interfere with my toes, even when I'm
applying brakes.

I made almost all my firewall penetrations on the passenger side very close
to the nose wheel tunnel, or just below the tank (except for the fuel line
feed-thru, which needs to be fairly low). Since I didn't install the
passenger side rudder pedals, very few people are long enough to have their
feet reach the fire-wall. In fact, I've had some complaints that there's
nothing to rest their feet on under there and I'm planning to add a small
cross-piece as a foot rest (mainly for the wife).

If you stick things on the underside of the pilot's side of the header tank
though, all bets are off.
