All,

We've started to collect a little Legacy performance data... It's not very
scientific, and it's not lots of data points, but it does provide a view
into the performance options around the Legacy and the various speeds vs.
engine vs. airframe combinations.  As we continue along, we may get more
scientific, but for now it's mostly just fun.  Some interesting data points
are starting to come to light however.

A) flush static ports *seem* to show a slower IAS than actual... Speculation
has to do with the laminar flow detaching or creating turbulence aft of the
rollbar and moving the static area out away from the fuselage.  This
speculation is rooted in Andy Chiaveta rear cheek cowl mod that Greg Cole
developed for the Legacy.  To remedy the issue, in one case, simply putting
an aluminum pop-rivet head over the flush sanded static port to move it away
from the fuselage has moved the IAS closer to the value it should be for a
give TAS.  This is a trick that the RV guys learned as they have found
similar issues with the RV's in certain airframes.

For the shameless plug, some of you bear with me and know that I created a
Legacy specific builder forum.  I moved it about 3 months ago to my own
server where it is much more reliable.  It's available for anyone who wants
to drop by, it's open for reading and if you'd like to post, just simply
register and I'll approve the registration, this just keeps spam away more
than anything.

Stop by if you like, or if you'd like to see what data we've collected.  We
are using the 4 way  GPS Test Pilot School spreadsheet with some
modifications that I create.

The links for the main forum is http://www.highrf.com/forums... To see the
Legacy specific performance thread, it's

Enjoy, be safe, and hope to see some of you at SNF...
