I think the wrong issue is on the
table.
In defense of Epic, they do not have a cirrus-style
marketing program aimed at the general non-flying public. They do
have a carefully engineered product with better flying characteristics than at
least one other approved kitbuilt. At the time it was offered, it
certainly was an experiment. ...and as a result, their certified
product has more field experience (on the kit-built predecessor) than just
about any other new certified product I can think of. As far
as I know, fewer people have died in Epic airplanes than most other
homebuilts.
So let's see:
- flies faster
- goes together easier
- kills less people
So far I'm not seeing anything criminal in that
picture.
I think the Canadians agree.
Memory should provide adequate examples of what
truly is criminal.
