Dennis, you should "drill stop" that crack as well. with it out, I'd remove
those rivets and that piece you put in, and drill stop that hole then put it
bac in. Also, while It's out, I've heard there are two different pieces,
altho I've only see one in the wide. Measure the width of the box from the
edge where the crack is down towards the table. Get as accurate of
measurement as you can and let's see if you have the "old" style or the
"new" style. One is suppose to be 1/16" narrower, but like I've said, I've
only seen the wider one. However mine is off so I should be able to tell
you which you have in comparison to mine anyway.

Alan

Subject: [LML] Cracked Oil Cooler Box IO-550 Legacy

I'm about half way through the first annual inspection of my Legacy and
discovered that the aluminum oil cooler "box" is cracked. The box I'm
talking about is the aluminum part that comes with the IO-550 baffle kit
from Lancair. It fits on the forward side of the oil cooler, between the
oil cooler and the left aft cylinder. It directs airflow through the oil
cooler and forces cooling air through the adjacent cylinder fins.
