FWIW,
I have gone to 245 mph indicated on a few occasions. Just below the red line in my 235/320. I have the large tail with no extra anything except what the factory had me do.
I have no intention to do it again but I have no issue to going and  routinely see 200-215 mph indicated decending from high altitude. Airplane seems absolutely at home at those speeds.

Doug,

If you are going to fly the airplane within the design envelope, it probably isn't necessary.  I haven't heard of any tails being twisted off.  I understand that there may be additional concern from folks with the MKII tail as the larger surface could impute greater stress.  It is not easy to work back there once the tail is closed out.  Perhaps others will chime in.

I just finished closing the Vertical Stab.  Do you think it would be worthwhile to get back in there and try to complete the oval just before the spar/bulkhead ahead of the horizon Stab (not sure I can squirm in there)?  Would additional bid on the strake, to the baggage bulkhead help instead?
