Actually, Grayhawk is right - as usual.  The injector tubing should be made from as small a tubing as practical to minimize the volume.  The volume of fuel from the distributor to the injector can drain or boil out during a hot soak and cause the normal hot start problem.  Therefore, they can contribute to the pressure drop downstream of the distributor and if they are not the same length different cylinders, even with identical injectors, could flow differently.  The fix is to make them the same length.  The reason Grayhawk is correctly skeptical is that the effect is very small and it is doubtful that they need to be exactly or even approximately the same.  If one customizes the individual injector flow rates (GAMI for instance) the result will compensate for the different lengths anyway.  Incidentally, I have seen some injector systems built with larger-than-normal tubing and I don't think that is a good idea as it needlessly increases the volume of fuel in the system.

Why, oh why have you asked why?  Who, oh who influenced me to do that? That is the question.  A fellow racer (who shall remain un-named for privacy reasons) was convinced his engine ran better with equal length injector lines.  He "suggested" that I might find the same result because of equalizing the effect of fluid drag in the longer lines.  I have not found any results that would indicate any difference and, at the next annual (assuming I am not too lazy), I may just switch back to the two shorter ones for cyls 1 & 3.  This will save at least .72 oz, thus allowing me to go faster.

Notice that you are not any smarter after that "excuse."
