Does anyone know somewhere good that can make a nice set of exhaust pipes from a PVC mock up? For my Lancair 360.

Randy,

Try Custom Aircraft Parts (just outside San Diego).  They built my custom exhaust from a PVC mockup and it fit perfectly.  Have had no cracks or other problems in 600 hrs.  Cost me about $850.

Gee, I thought my idea of mocking up in PVC was original!  Well at least maybe this part was original.  In order to tightly test fit your mockup to the engine, do the following.  Drill a small hole through the end of each pipe near the exhaust flange end.  Slip a flange gasket over the pipe and then push a nail through the hole to restrain the gasket.  Now you can bolt the mockup to the engine to see if it fits properly.  I fitted it over and over this way while I trimmed the flange ends for the right angles.  After the flange ends fit perfectly and while they are attached to the engine, glue all the other parts together at the desired angles.  When finished, I could repeatedly bolt the mockup very tightly to the engine and get the same fit every time.  When I got back the finished product, it exited the cowl at exactly the same position and angle as the mockup.
