I am finally getting serious about the firewall forward installation in my 11 year old Lancair 360 project and noticed today the master relay gets really hot. I don't mean just warm, I mean H-O-T. The "ouch that's hot" kind. Since it's mounted on the cabin side of my wood firewall I am thinking something that hotis not a good thing. So is this normal? How hot is too hot? Can anything be done to make this more of a non issue? I don't want to be concerned with that thing getting too hot on an extended flight. The relay is the continuous duty relay as supplied by Lancair with the kit in 1996.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
