With today's personal 'chutes you flare them on landing and the
touchdown is like walking down the stairs.  You ain't gonna flare a
Cirrus that's under the canopy.

25 fps is not that high.  I expect it is pretty close to those 28' round
canopies some of you were sitting on and was attached to a Martin Baker.
The old Para Commander (PC), which was a big improvement over the 28'
and 24' round canopies, had a rate of 14-16 fps.  So 25 fps is not too
bad, especially when considering that the landing gear and seats etc
will absorb a lot of energy.
