To put this in perspective.. [if memory serves me correct] your typical parachute [personal chute not BRS] will decend at 4-500fpm.. or 7-9fps and that feels like a kick on the chin.. now having a airframe around you absorb alot of that impact but man...  thats STILL gotta hurt a bit...

Anyone heard the one about the two Cirrus pilots who lost their engine over Texas? Apparently the handle had a malfunction and no matter how hard they pulled it wouldn't deploy the chute..[I think Cirrus published an AD after this one] so they just ended up landing the plane on a road.. 

I think they [BRS] have their place.. but they are not a blanket, "one fix fit's all" solution..
