This radio was 7 watts and would transmit and receive strong and clear at least 65 nautical miles (Sacramento at 5,500 to San Carlos). The ICS radio has a built in voice activated intercom, 20 com memories flip/flop, 20 nav memories flip/flop, vor, localizer, glide slope and built in back-up battery. You get the whole thing for about $1,600.00. Down side, it is not certificated for aircraft use but seems to be ok for experimentals. The airplane has been inspected by three different FAA people and none of them commented on the radio. I have never had a complaint about my transmissions. I am installing the same unit in the 235/290 I am building.
