No possibility of scratching a CD during a rough landing or due to turbulence if the CD is safely back home in it's jewel case. Diamond Multimedia www.diamondmm.com is selling a RIO player that allows you to download music into it and then listen to the RIO. This device is currently limited to about 2 hours of play time, but the market for this type of music storage is increasing rapidly as is the storage capacity. Alternately, for those of you considering putting a PC in the panel or flying with a laptop on board, RealJukeBox www.real.com is a software application that allows you to store hundreds of CD's worth of music on a hard drive and listen to the music via a headset or speakers. I think it would be a shame to carve up a panel for old technology devices when the direction of music storage is clearly going digital and computer driven.
