Hi all,
Jim and I are now starting to complete the aileron installation on our IVP
wings. (We have the newest? fastbuild kits from Lancair-the aileron hinges
were installed at the factory)
My problem is that I can get only about 17 degrees of aileron down deflection
on the right wing before the "balance weight tab" on the front of the aileron
hits the upper wing skin. The tab seems to contact the wing skin along most
of its length. The left wing is better--after careful trimming and
straightening the tab with a little heat, I just have the required 20
degrees.
Options seem to relocate the hinges a bit closer to the top of the wing (a
serious and major undertaking as both the wing half and the aileron half
hinges must be moved) or to cut off some of the balance weight tab so the
aileron can rotate further before the tab hits the upper wing skin.
Are there options I've missed? What is the minimum allowable aileron down
travel? Other ideas?
