Ed, The audio panel doesn't MAKE me install a 2nd antenna, but it does make me WANT to install one. The reason is that the latest Garmin audio panel as well as another top stereo audio panel will allow com transmission from both pilot and copilot on the two coms at the same time. Copilot can be talking to Flight Service while pilot talks to Center. But you can't use that feature with one antenna and a diplexer - you need two antennas, I think. If I'm wrong, I'd sure like to know how to use the one antenna to take advantage of this feature. I didn't know about this capability of the audio panels until recently.
